East West Urban Consultancy organised training & study visit for Chinese professionals

In September and October 2017 East West Urban Consultancy has organised and carried out successfully training and study visits for Shenzhen Urban Planning & Design Institute, which has send two delegations to the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

The main purpose is to exchange experience with European colleagues on following themes:

• public facilities and public space’s planning and design,
• mixed use land development,
• innovation business parks’ planning
• urban renewal – harbour & vacant industrial area redevelopment
• social housing development policy
• characteristic small town development

During their stay, they have been invited by urban planning departments of municipality Amsterdam, Almere and The Hague. They also have visited many projects in above cities and listened to presentations from experts. Afterwards, the Shenzhen delegation has visited the ministry of Urban Planning and Housing in Hamburg and participated in the international conference “Green mobility” in Mannheim Germany.

Furthermore, they have travelled to Zurich in Switzerland to learn about the new development in the city centre – the “Europaallee” project.

The training and the study visits have broadened the view of Chinese urban planners and architects and increased their opportunities of cooperation with European organizations, it also gave European colleagues some insight on new development in China.
